UAW Celebrates Anniversary

Our international union was begun August 26, 1935, as a project of the Committee for Industrial Organizing of the American Federation of Labor (AFL). Celebrations have already begun. A commemorative speech by UAW International President Ron Gettlefinger will be played at 8:05 AM on KNON radio, 89.3 FM and www.knon.org on Wednesday, June 15. Click here .

Another important interview was recorded with Al Cline, who has been in the union since it started, and knew the union's first elected president, Homer Martin.

Endorsed Candidates Win

The Dallas Central Labor Council endorsed three candidates for City Council in the runoff election. All 3 won. Pauline Medrano, whose father and brother were officers of Local 848, will serve on the Council!

Who Won the Elections?

Local 848 members can reply, "WE DID!" Up to 90% of Local 848's members turned out to vote, even though a large numbers of union offices had already been filled by acclamation.
