V-Cap Raffle Begun
At Local 848's May 11 Vought leadership meeting, President
Reecie Giesecke distributed V-CAP raffle tickets from UAW Region 5. Stacks of
prizes will also go out to the many members who are already participating in
the union's political program. Zone 3 leaders were pointed out as being
outstanding.
This year, Region five offers two grand prizes in the raffle.
The winners will choose from four luxury cruises: Alaska, Hawaii, Mexican
Riviera, or Caribbe
an. Tickets cost $3 each or 2 for $5. UAW members
can take satisfaction in knowing that they backed the fight against anti-union
politicians and in favor of our basic rights. President Giesecke told the
leadership, "Mr Bush is trying to take your overtime away from you. If for
no other reason, that's why we should raise money this year!"
The drawing occurs on September 24, but President Giesecke asked
that the raffle tickets be sold out early this year so that we can concentrate
on getting the best possible contract. Most of the meeting was concerned with
gathering and disseminating information to help our Vought leadership and
membership get ready for contract negotiations. Chairman Russell Strowd laid
out some early planning and encouraged input from all.
