Get the Facts!
Immediately after our local union voted a strike authorization on September
26, commercial "news" reporters started mis-representing the facts.
The point for all Local 848 members and our supporters is this: if you want
information on which you can base decisions, go to the union.
The main line of communications is the stewards and committeemen in the shop. They have the latest and straightest.
Americas unions have few friends in the corporation-owned media, none
in management, and very few, these days, in government. At the same time,
we really need information so that we can take care of our personal affairs.
It would be helpful if members printed out web-page announcements for those
who do not have computers or dont know how to operate one.
I have a very few e-mail addresses, and I intend to contact those people when something new is released. Those who want on my list can get there easily by clicking on feedback. I also administer the Dallas AFL-CIO e-mail service, which any member can join at www.dallasaflcio.org.
Getting accurate information from the union becomes more important
every day.
