Election Period Begins

At the Membership Meeting on April 17, Local 848 began its painstakingly democratic election process when we ratified the proposal that set dates, times, and places for our election. We also had the nominations and elections of our new Election Committee.

Trustee Chairperson Diane White ran the election by paper ballot. The seven nominees with the highest votes were: Karen Johnson, Jesse Smith, Kevin Taylor, Henry Stovall, Kim Estes, Dale Johns, and Bob Chandler. They met after the meeting and selected Dale Johns as Chairperson and Bob Chandler as Co-Chair. Other Committee members include Victor Lopez, Joel Robinson, John Hinchcliffe, Dwight Harrison, Lewis Hawkins, and Chris Flores. President Giesecke said he had a list of 8 retirees who had volunteered to help.

New members Janice Ellis and Troy Depue were sworn in during the meeting. James Ducker announced that our softball team has a lot of enthusiastic new players who are excited to begin tournament play on May 22 in Corsair Park. Gene Lantz asked for volunteers to put on a celebration for July 5th, the 20th anniversary of Local 848's victory over LTV. Gene Cates asked for sponsors for his walk to help the Tarrant County Alliance for the Mentally Ill. Several members responded with donations that added up to $100.
