Golf Tournamet Was Success

Tournament organizer Jeff Benge says,
“This year we got to see some of the fruits of our labor at the golf
tournament. Participants got to see some of the scholarship winners so they
could realize that we were really accomplishing something long-lasting while we
were having fun.” The 9th annual James “Earl” Wavrusa memorial golf tournament
was presented by UAW local at the Bear Creek Golf Club on June 12. Benge
credited Romeo Munoz, Pete Jimenez, Clifton Lovely, and Chuck Stanley for making the event a success.
Benge said that the tournament
paid all its own costs and contributed over $1,700 to the local’s scholarship
fund. One special contest raised $305 for the UAW V-CAP. There were 144
players. There were 9 sponsors at the $60 level, 3 at the $500 level, and
donations of $150 and $100.
Next
year will the tenth anniversary of the tournament, and Benge says it will be
really be special!
