Van Rental Problem Continues

Union members continue to ask about our problem with Capp Van Rental, 636 W Tarrant Rd in Grand Prairie. So far, they continue to demand payment for a defective window that shattered while union members were helping get out the vote in Paris, Texas. On the way back, President Giesecke opened the door for two retirees to exit. When he closed it in a normal way, the glass shattered.

The clerk at Capp Rental said “This isn’t the first time this has happened,” but Capp Rental insisted that we pay the damage rather than filing their own insurance claim. Editor Gene Lantz withheld payment through his credit card company, but they refused to cooperate. Apparently, Capp Rental’s contract attempts to cover them even when their rented vehicles have a defect.

The union members had been satisfied with the vehicle rented and would had continued using Capp Rental, but the $180 charge for the broken window remains an ongoing sore point. The Texas AFL-CIO re-imbursed our editor.
