848 Retirees Pitch In to Help

Local 848's retirees pitched in to help our union at their monthly luncheon on April 13, 2006. Brother Danny Green sold raffle tickets to help raise political money for UAW Region 5. Brother Gene Cates organized a letter-writing campaign to try to bring more work into our Grand Prairie workplaces.

While Sister Janet Conroy did most the work on getting our delicious luncheon together, members exchanged information important to their lives. Social Security was a big topic, as was health care. Members went over a lot of the information from the UAW Region 5 Retiree Seminar held just two days before.

We held our usual acknowledgements of birthdays and anniversaries, then our drawing. Since we still had some time, the retirees shared the latest jokes.
