Retirees Celebrate Friendship at Christmas

Local 848's retirees had no outside speaker at the Christmas luncheon on December 9. Instead, they talked about the many friendships that enriched their lives during their working days and during the present.

Retirees discussed and remembered those friends who have gone on, and those who were too ill to attend the monthly luncheon. President Reecie Giesecke greeted the retirees and wished them a happy holiday season. He encouraged retirees to help prepare the Children's Christmas party and to come to it on December 12.

Brother James Lambert reminisced about the time some of the guys at Vought lowered a fake spider down onto Sam Brown's lunchtime domino game. Pandemonium ensued!

There were more than the usual number of door prizes for the drawing. James and JoAnn Hamm brought in extra Christmas presents. Reecie Giesecke brought in some UAW pins.

Chairman Gene Cates led the blessing, and retirees ate ham, turkey, and lots of trimmings.

One of the retirees' best friends is Dorothy Reid. It was announced that she would soon turn 94 years of age. She almost never misses her union retiree meeting!
