Have Great Time!
Local 848's retirees sent a delegation to Summer School in Norman Oklahoma in mid-June. They learned a lot, had some fun, and helped UAW CAP raise over $14,000 to boost the union's political program. At the July meeting, President Splawn came to go over retiree issues with the group.
The August 11 meeting will include a special commemoration of the 70th anniversary
of America's most successful government program -- Social Security. It was signed
August 14, 1935 by President FD Roosevelt. Speakers for this special program
are being lined up. Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, who already had a prior
commitment, is preparing a special video for 848's retirees.
Dorothy Reid, who almost never misses a retiree meeting, is shown modeling one of the prizes that was won in a raffle at Summer School.
